I’m one of those people who often have vivid dreams while I sleep. My dreams range from terrifying nightmares to chaotic adventures, but when I’m lucky, they can also be quite sweet and magical. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been easily impressionable when it comes to viewing anything remotely scary. Scary things would often trigger a nightmare that same evening. Even now, if I see a trailer for a zombie movie, for example, not even the movie itself, I can sense what will plague my dreams that night.
On the other hand, my good dreams fill me with such wonder that I’ve kept multiple dream diaries, especially in high school. When I first began reading this graphic novel by a Hong Kong artist, I felt like I’d finally found an author who could recreate on page what dreaming feels like.
