It’s time for another rundown of all the latest book news, book fans! And we have a lot to chat about this week. From cover reveals to new adaptation announcements to new trailers and new book clubs, let’s get excited about all things bookish.
Check out the cover of librarian and social media sensation Mychal Threets’s new children’s book, I’m So Happy You’re Here. The cover was designed by Random House Children’s Books assistant art director Elizabeth Tardiff. “Mychal had cover consultation and approval, so we went to him first, asking for concepts he had in mind, and he came back with some good ideas,” Tardiff told Publishers Weekly. Threets said, “I love that the library kids are all on the cover and that she used so many vibrant colors. It shows how welcoming the library and the book are meant to be.” You can pick up a copy of this book in February 2026.
Have you been dreaming of a third season of Big Little Lies? So has show creator David E. Kelley. Kelley said at the Gotham TV Awards, “We had a great time doing the first two seasons and we all want to do it again … I’m hopeful it’ll happen.” Kelley also teased that author Liane Moriarty has written another novel that a third season could potentially follow.
Here’s the first trailer for Kiss of the Spiderwoman, the film adaptation of Manuel Puig’s 1976 novel of the same name. The film stars Jennifer Lopez, Diego Luna, and Tonatiuh. It hits theaters on October 10.
Sandhya Menon has announced a new novel! On Instagram, the author wrote, “I am SO excited to finally share the news! I’ve been hard at work at a novel that’s a completely new adventure, writing wise, for me.” Menon’s new novel, Inheritance, is a dystopian novel set in a world where young women are forced to be surrogate mothers for wealthy families. The novel is scheduled for a winter 2027 release.
Filming has wrapped on the upcoming screen adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling book Children of Blood and Bone. The shoot apparently lasted for 74 days and featured a talented cast of actors, including Thuso Mbedu, Amandla Stenberg, Damson Idris, Tosin Cole, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, and Lashana Lynch. The film will be out on January 15, 2027.
Stephen Colbert’s Late Show has started a book club. The book club’s first pick is the Booker Prize-winning novel Orbital by Samantha Harvey. Colbert invites viewers to read along and let him know you’re joining in on the club by posting a picture of the book with the hashtag #LateShowBookClub. Colbert says there will be more announcements about the book club on Instagram @ColbertLateShow.

This week, we’re highlighting a post that asks: Are reading parties the next big thing? People—especially readers—are clearly looking for community. Are reading parties the answer? Read on for an excerpt and become an All Access member to unlock the full post.
Reading communities are everywhere online. From Storygraph to Fable to BookTube to BookTok, the growth of online reading buddies feels exponential. The problem with social media as it exists online, however, is that it’s a stand-in for the true connections we all seek over the things we love. As much as reading roundups and reading tracking can be fun, meeting up with in-person book lovers is a great book lover community event. With that in mind, reading parties could be the next big thing.
A reading party is distinct from a book club because everyone shows up to read instead of having read something to discuss. At a reading party, you can make time to discuss what you are reading, but it doesn’t all need to be the same book. It’s more of a reading vibe check than a book discussion.
